Below I have attached a zip folder containing all of the documents that I created using Microsoft Publisher. The following documents are included:
Newsletter
Invitation
Banner
Greeting Card
Event Program
Flyer
Award Certificate
Calendar
Menu (student choice)
This project frustrated me at first because I didn't know how to use Publisher; however, once I developed my central theme and came up with a few general ideas of what I wanted to put on my documents, the program didn't seem as foreboding.
The skills I developed working with Publisher will be very beneficial for me when I begin teaching. The software has so many built-in templates that can be easily modified to meet the needs of my specific class. For example, creating a newsletter to send home each week (or two weeks, let's not get crazy) would be a breeze if I had access to Publisher. The templates for newsletters already have the different sections mapped out for you, including areas where you can insert pictures and quotations. It also gives you the option of making the newsletter 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. pages long. This is a great feature to have if you are on a middle school team with multiple teachers.
Overall, I am glad that I got the chance to experiment with Publisher. If my future place of employment has the software, I will not only utilize the resource myself, but I will also give my students the chance to use the program as well!
